Which IPTV player is best? For most living rooms in the USA, Canada and the UK, TiViMate on an Android TV or Google TV device is the strongest all-round choice. On an iPhone, iPad or Apple TV, iMPlayer or the official Smarters app does the job well. On an LG or Samsung TV with nothing plugged in, Smart IPTV or an IBO-type player fills the gap. A player is only the screen and the remote, though. Your channels come from the service you load into it, and a MoviraTivi login works in every app on this page. We checked each app’s store listing and developer pages in October 2026.
The quick version: pick the device first, then the player that runs best on it. Then load one login. That order saves more frustration than any feature list.
The best IPTV player by device, in one paragraph
Google TV Streamer, onn box, Nvidia Shield or an older Fire TV Stick on Fire OS: TiViMate. Apple TV, iPhone or iPad: iMPlayer, or Smarters Player Lite if you want the simplest free option. Samsung or LG smart TV on its own: Smart IPTV or IBO Player. Android phone or tablet: OTT Navigator or iMPlayer. A computer, or a tinkerer who wants everything free: Kodi with the PVR IPTV Simple Client add-on. MAG or Formuler box: the built-in portal or MyTVOnline.
What an IPTV player actually does
An IPTV player is an app that reads a login and turns it into a TV guide. It fetches the channel list, draws the program grid, and plays the video. It does not hold any channels of its own. Every honest player says so in its store listing.
TiViMate’s Google Play page puts it plainly. It calls itself “a media player only” and says a premium upgrade “unlocks application features only.” That sentence answers a common question. Paying for a player never buys you channels. It buys a better remote.
Your channels come from a provider. With MoviraTivi that means 25,000+ live channels, arranged in folders by country. The US, Canada and UK folders come first, with networks, local news, sport, kids and entertainment. Spanish-language and international folders sit below them. The player’s job is to show those folders cleanly and switch between them fast.
The three ways a login reaches a player
Every provider hands you one of three login formats. The player has to accept the one you have.
- Xtream Codes. A server address, a username and a password. The player pulls live TV, the guide and on-demand titles in one go. It is the easiest to type on a remote.
- M3U link. One long web address that points to a playlist file. A separate guide link (XMLTV) is often added for the program grid.
- MAC portal. Used by MAG and Formuler boxes and by some TV apps. The provider links your device’s MAC address to a portal address.
A MoviraTivi login comes in all three formats, so you never have to change player to suit us. Our Xtream Codes setup guide and our M3U playlist guide walk through each field.
IPTV players compared: the table
Here is how the seven players stack up on the points that matter day to day. Prices are what the official store listings showed when we checked in October 2026. Stores show local prices, so Canadian and UK figures differ.

TiViMate: the best IPTV player for a TV screen
TiViMate is the app most people mean when they ask for the best IPTV player for TV. It was built for a remote control, not a touchscreen. The developer even warns that it is “not optimized for touch devices such as phones or tablets.” On a TV box, that focus shows.
The guide grid looks and feels like a cable box. Up and down change channels at once. A long press brings up options. You can hide groups you never watch, reorder the rest, and rename them. For a household that only needs the US folder, or only the UK one, that cleanup takes five minutes and makes the app feel personal.
What TiViMate Premium adds
The free version plays channels and shows a guide. Premium unlocks the parts that make it shine. The Google Play listing names catch-up, recording, parental controls, several playlists and multiview. Multiview lets you put more than one channel on screen at once.
On the US Play Store, in-app items ranged from $0.99 to $33.99 when we checked. Independent guides list the usual options as a yearly plan at $9.99 or a lifetime unlock at $33.99. Confirm the price in the app before you pay, because store prices change and differ by country.
Where TiViMate will not install
TiViMate needs Android. It runs on Google TV and Android TV devices, and on Fire TV devices that still use Fire OS. It does not run on Apple TV, iPhone, Roku, or Samsung and LG TVs. Any App Store app called “Tivimate” comes from a different developer, so check the seller name before you download.
Fire TV owners need one extra check. Amazon’s newest sticks run Vega OS, which is not Android and does not allow sideloading. If your stick runs Vega OS, TiViMate cannot be installed on it. Our guide to the best IPTV box lists which devices still work. The TiViMate setup guide covers the install and the login, step by step.
IPTV Smarters Pro: the familiar name, with a few warnings
IPTV Smarters Pro is probably the best-known IPTV player name in the world. It came from WHMCS Smarters, and for years it was the default app providers told people to use. It handles Xtream logins and M3U links, and it splits live TV, films and series into clear sections.
Its fame has a downside. Search the US App Store for “Smarters” and you get a page of look-alikes from unrelated developers. When we checked, the official iOS app from WHMCS Smarters was listed as Smarters Player Lite. It runs on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, is free with ads, and offers a $1.99 Premium upgrade. Several other “Smarters” apps on the store are separate products from other sellers.
Smarters on Android and Fire TV
On Android, the official Smarters app was not listed on Google Play in the US, UK or Canada when we checked. The developer distributes it directly. That is not a red flag in itself, but it means you should take the file only from the developer’s own site. Never install a “Smarters Pro” APK from a random link in a forum or a video description.
Once installed, Smarters is easy to learn. It suits people who move between a phone and a TV and want the same layout on both. Our IPTV Smarters Pro setup guide shows the login screen and where the country folders appear.
iMPlayer: the best IPTV player for Apple TV and iPhone
iMPlayer, from the developer HzApps, is the player we recommend most often to Apple households. It runs on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, and on Android devices too. That makes it one of the few players that feels the same in an Apple living room and on an Android phone.
The App Store listing names catch-up, video on demand, a full guide and a customizable layout. A 2025 update added a multiview mode on iPad and an “All Favorites” group that pulls favorites from several playlists into one list. On Android, multiview and catch-up sit in the paid tier.
iMPlayer price, as checked
The app installs free. In October 2026 the US App Store listed a Premium subscription at $24.99. Google Play showed in-app items from $19.99 to $34.99, and the Android listing had passed 500,000 downloads. As always, the in-app screen shows the price for your country. Our iMPlayer setup guide shows where to type the Xtream details on Apple TV and Android.
OTT Navigator: the tinkerer’s Android player
OTT Navigator, from Scillarium Studio, is an Android-only player with more settings than almost any other. Its FAQ is clear that it “only works on Android.” That covers phones, tablets, Android TV boxes, Fire TV on Fire OS and Chromecast with Google TV.
It accepts M3U playlists and has provider templates for Xtream Codes and Stalker or MAC portals. You can change the look, the guide layout and how groups behave in great detail. That depth suits enthusiasts. It can overwhelm someone who just wants the news on.
Premium is managed through an account and the separate OttNav Companion app. The FAQ says a standard premium package covers five devices. The developer FAQ does not list a price, so check the figure shown in your store before you buy. Be wary of “premium unlocked” builds on download sites. They are modified copies of the app, signed by someone else.
Smart IPTV and IBO-type players: the best option for a smart TV alone
Many people want IPTV on a Samsung or LG TV with nothing plugged in. Those TVs cannot run Android apps, so TiViMate and OTT Navigator are out. That is where Smart IPTV and the IBO family of players come in.
Smart IPTV (SIPTV)
Smart IPTV lives in the TV’s own app store. Its developer site lists Samsung Tizen 6.5 and newer (2022 models onward), LG webOS 3.0 and newer, and older LG models, plus Android, Google and Fire TV. You open the app, note the MAC address it shows, then upload your M3U link on the Smart IPTV website.
The activation page lists a one-time fee of €5.49 per TV or device. That is paid to the app maker, not to your provider. The menus are plain, but recent versions added search across the guide and support for several external guide sources. Our Smart IPTV setup guide shows the upload page and the common mistakes.
IBO Player and its look-alikes
“IBO” has become a family name for a group of TV players that all work the same way. The app shows a device ID and a key. You enter those on the developer’s website, together with your M3U link or Xtream details, and the playlist appears on the TV.
The original IBO Player from developer Ibrahim Akoum is on the US App Store for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. It offers a 7-day free trial, and the listed activation was $9.99 when we checked. TV builds exist too, and euro prices vary between sellers. There are also many look-alikes with similar names, such as “IBO Pro” and “IB Player,” from other developers. Activate only through the website named inside the app you installed.
For TV owners, the Samsung smart TV guide and the LG smart TV guide explain which of these players works on which model year.
Kodi with PVR IPTV Simple Client: the best free IPTV player
Is there a truly free IPTV player? Yes. Kodi is free and open source, and so is its IPTV add-on, PVR IPTV Simple Client. Nothing inside costs money. Kodi’s Google Play listing passed 50 million downloads, and it runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and Fire OS.
The add-on reads an M3U playlist and an XMLTV guide link. Once set up, you get a channel list, a TV guide and channel groups. The official Kodi wiki documents every setting.
The trade-off is effort. Kodi is a full media center, and the IPTV part is one add-on among many. Setup takes longer than in TiViMate, and the menus depend on the skin you choose. It suits a home theater PC or a curious user. For a parent who wants the TV to just work, a dedicated player is kinder.
Kodi also carries a warning of its own. Its store listing says the official version contains no content and that Team Kodi does not endorse illegal sources. Stick to the official add-on repository and steer clear of “fully loaded” Kodi builds.
Is there a free IPTV player? What “free” really means
Most IPTV players cost nothing to install. The real question is what stays free after the first week. The answer falls into four groups.
| Pricing model | Players | Free part | Paid part |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free forever | Kodi + PVR IPTV Simple Client | Everything | Nothing (optional donations) |
| Free core, paid upgrade | TiViMate, iMPlayer, OTT Navigator | Playback, channel list, basic guide | Catch-up, recording, multiview, extra playlists |
| Free with ads | Smarters Player Lite (iOS) | The full app, with ads | A small one-time fee removes ads |
| Trial, then activation | Smart IPTV, IBO Player | A short trial period | A per-device activation fee |
So yes, you can watch IPTV with a free player. But a free player still needs a playlist. Free M3U lists passed around online are often unlicensed, unreliable or unsafe, and we never point people to them. Our guide to whether IPTV is legal explains why that matters in the USA, Canada and the UK.
What is the most popular IPTV player?
Store numbers give a rough answer. Kodi’s Google Play listing shows more than 50 million downloads, but most Kodi users never touch IPTV. Among dedicated IPTV players, TiViMate passed 5 million downloads on Google Play and sat in the store’s top-grossing video player list when we checked. IPTV Smarters is probably the most widely recognized name, though its many copycats make its real numbers hard to count.
Popularity is useful for one reason: popular players get updates. TiViMate’s listing showed an update in June 2026, iMPlayer’s in September 2026. An app that has not been updated in a year may break on new TV software. Beyond that, the most popular player matters less than the one that suits your screen.
Best IPTV player for Firestick, smart TV and Apple TV
The right player depends on the device you already own. Here is the short list for each one.
Best IPTV player for Firestick
On a Fire TV device running Fire OS, TiViMate is the first choice, with iMPlayer a close second. Both need sideloading through the Downloader app. On the newest Vega OS sticks, sideloading is gone and only Amazon Appstore apps install. Check your stick under Settings, then My Fire TV, then About. Our Firestick setup guide covers both cases.
Best IPTV player for Android TV and Google TV
TiViMate again. Install it from Google Play, add your login, and it behaves like a cable box. OTT Navigator is the alternative for people who like to fine-tune. The Android TV guide shows both.
Best IPTV player for Samsung and LG TVs
Smart IPTV for simplicity and a low one-time fee. An IBO-type player if you want a more modern layout. Both depend on the TV’s model year, so check the app store on your TV first.
Best IPTV player for Apple TV and iPhone
iMPlayer for the best guide and favorites. Smarters Player Lite if you want something free to start with. The Apple TV and iPhone guide walks through both.
Best IPTV player for Roku
Roku is the weak spot. Its channel store does not carry TiViMate, Smarters or iMPlayer. The cleanest fix is a small Android TV or Google TV device plugged into a spare HDMI port. Our Roku guide explains the options honestly.
Best IPTV player for a Windows PC or Mac
Kodi for a full guide, or a quick test in a general video player. The Windows PC guide covers the setup.
How to choose an IPTV player in five questions
Still unsure? Answer these five questions in order. Most people have their answer by the third.
- What device runs your TV? This rules out half the list right away. Android-only apps will not run on Apple TV, and TV-store apps will not run on a Fire Stick.
- Who will use it most? A cable-style grid suits parents and grandparents. A poster-style layout suits people who mostly watch films.
- Do you need catch-up or recording? Both depend on the provider and usually sit in a player’s paid tier.
- How many screens? Some activations are per device. A home with four TVs may pay four times.
- Is the app from the real developer? Check the seller name in the store. Copycat apps are common in this category.
Only trust information from the developer or the official store. Old forum posts often list prices and features that have since changed.
Setting up your player with MoviraTivi
MoviraTivi was built around one idea: keep the player you already like. We do not make our own app, and we never sell or bundle player licenses. If you pay for TiViMate Premium or a Smart IPTV activation, that money goes to the app maker. Our MoviraTivi app page explains why, and warns about fake “MoviraTivi APK” downloads.
Here is how getting started works.
- Pick your player using the table above.
- Start the free trial. The 24-hour MoviraTivi trial needs no card. We send an Xtream login, an M3U link or a MAC portal to suit your player.
- Load the login by following one of our 14 step-by-step setup guides.
- Find your home folders. Open the USA, Canada or UK group and mark your everyday channels as favorites.
- Get stuck? Message us. A real person answers on WhatsApp at +44 7451 256085, 24/7, and can walk you through it live.
The streams come in 4K, FHD and HD, with 4K where the broadcaster sends it. Our 4K IPTV page lists what a 4K picture needs from your TV, device and connection. The lineup is the same on every plan. You can browse it on the MoviraTivi channels page, with folders for the USA, Canada and the UK.
Our verdict on the best IPTV player
For a TV screen on Android, TiViMate is the best IPTV player in 2026. Its grid, its speed and its group controls are still the standard others are judged by. For Apple homes, iMPlayer is the most complete choice. On a bare Samsung or LG TV, Smart IPTV is the low-cost, low-fuss option. For anyone who wants everything free, Kodi with the Simple Client add-on is the honest answer.
Whichever you pick, a MoviraTivi login fits it. Plans run 1, 3, 6 or 12 months for 1, 2, 3 or 5 screens, with prices in USD shown in full on our pricing page. A first order has a 7-day money-back guarantee, and a plan simply ends on its last day. If you are still comparing services, our checklist on how to pick the best IPTV provider shows what to look for.
Install your favorite player, then try MoviraTivi free for 24 hours on your own TV. No card needed.
Quick Answers
Which IPTV player is the best?
TiViMate is the best IPTV player for most TV screens, as long as the device runs Android TV, Google TV or Fire OS. Its cable-style guide, quick channel changes and group controls set the standard. Apple households do better with iMPlayer, and bare Samsung or LG TVs suit Smart IPTV. A MoviraTivi login works in all three, so choose by device first.
Is the IPTV player free?
Most IPTV players install free, but only some stay free. Kodi with the PVR IPTV Simple Client add-on is free forever. TiViMate, iMPlayer and OTT Navigator have a free core with a paid upgrade. Smart IPTV and IBO Player charge a per-device activation after a trial. None of them includes channels; those come from a service such as MoviraTivi.
What is the best free IPTV player for my TV?
On an Android TV or Google TV device, the free version of TiViMate is the easiest start, and Kodi is fully free if you do not mind a longer setup. On Apple TV, Smarters Player Lite is free with ads. Samsung and LG owners usually face a small one-time activation. Test any of them with the free 24-hour MoviraTivi trial.
What is the most popular IPTV app?
IPTV Smarters is the best-known name, but many copycat apps share it. On Google Play, TiViMate has passed 5 million downloads and ranks among the top-grossing video players, which makes it the most popular dedicated player for TVs. Kodi has more downloads overall, though few of its users watch IPTV. Every one of them accepts a MoviraTivi login.
Which IPTV player is best for Firestick?
TiViMate is the best choice on a Fire TV device that still runs Fire OS, with iMPlayer a close second. Both install through the Downloader app. Amazon's newest Vega OS sticks block sideloading, so those players will not install there. Check Settings, My Fire TV, About before you buy. MoviraTivi support on WhatsApp can help you check your model.
Do I need to pay for TiViMate to use MoviraTivi?
No. The free version of TiViMate plays MoviraTivi channels and shows the guide. TiViMate Premium adds catch-up, recording, multiview and extra playlists, and it is paid to the app's developer, not to us. We never sell player licenses. Try the free version during your 24-hour trial, then decide whether the extras are worth it to you.
Is there an official MoviraTivi app?
No. MoviraTivi does not make its own app or APK, and any download using that name is not ours. One MoviraTivi login works in the trusted players on this page, including TiViMate, IPTV Smarters Pro, iMPlayer, Smart IPTV, IBO-type players and Kodi. Our 14 setup guides show each one, and WhatsApp support can walk you through it live.
Try MoviraTivi on your own TV tonight
MoviraTivi opens 25,000+ live channels with USA, Canada and UK folders, inside the player you already use. Test it free for 24 hours with no card, get your login under 15 minutes after payment, and keep 7 days of money-back cover on a first order.
