MoviraTivi on Windows PC and Mac: 11 steps from install to your favorite home channels

1. Install Smarters for desktop

   Go to the IPTV Smarters developer website and download the official installer for Windows or macOS. Avoid download portals that repackage it. Install, launch and pick Login with Xtream Codes API, then fill the three boxes from our WhatsApp lines and save.

2. Second option: VLC and the M3U link

   Download VLC from videolan.org. Windows users open the Media menu and pick Open Network Stream (Ctrl+N); Mac users go to File, Open Network (Cmd+N). Drop in the MoviraTivi M3U link and play. Pressing Ctrl+L on Windows reveals the playlist, with a search field for channel names.

3. Or use a Mac App Store player

   On a Mac with an M-series chip, open the Mac App Store and search for iMPlayer IPTV Player, which needs macOS 26 or later, or Smarters Player Lite. Install, select the Xtream Codes option and type the same three lines. These apps keep folders, favorites and the guide, much like on an iPad.

4. Let the first load finish

   Smarters and iMPlayer download every live folder and the program guide on first launch, plus the 120,000+ titles in the library if you allow it. On broadband this takes a minute or two. VLC needs a moment to read the large M3U playlist before channels respond, so wait before clicking.

5. Find your country folders

   In Smarters, choose Live TV. Categories run down the left and start with the country, so the USA, Canada and UK groups sit together, each split into news, entertainment, kids and sport. Canada has English and French groups. Spanish-language and international folders follow lower down.

6. Favorite your channels

   Mark the channels you watch every week as favorites in Smarters or iMPlayer: your local news, the main networks, a family channel. The Favorites list then opens straight to your short lineup. In VLC, add those channels to a new playlist and save it with Media, Save Playlist to File.

7. Raise the VLC network cache

   Out of the box, VLC holds only a short buffer for streams. On Windows, open Tools, Preferences, click All under Show settings, then Input / Codecs, and raise Network caching to a few thousand milliseconds. More cache means a slightly later picture but fewer hiccups when Wi-Fi wobbles.

8. Match the display to the channel

   North American channels mostly run near 60 frames per second and UK channels at 50. On Windows 11, open Settings, System, Display, Advanced display to see the refresh rate. 60 Hz suits most US and Canadian channels; a monitor that offers 50 Hz shows UK channels slightly smoother.

9. Let the graphics chip do the decoding

   Hardware decoding keeps a laptop cool and quiet through a long evening. In VLC, check that hardware-accelerated decoding is set to Automatic under Input / Codecs. Smarters lists its decoder options among the player settings. Keep the laptop on mains power during long viewing.

10. Connect by cable and close the extras

    Ethernet keeps live channels most stable. If you rely on Wi-Fi, join the 5 GHz network and stay within sight of the router. Shut idle tabs, and pause syncing services and big downloads during viewing. Restart the computer if it has been running for days.

11. Put it on the TV or add screens

    An HDMI cable from the laptop puts the picture on the TV with no delay. Wireless also works: Win+K casts from Windows to Miracast TVs, and a Mac can use AirPlay to an Apple TV. Other devices in the home can share the login within your 1, 2, 3 or 5 screen plan.

Choosing an IPTV player for your computer

A computer is a good place to try MoviraTivi before you set up the TV, and a handy second screen afterwards. The three routes above differ mainly in comfort. Smarters and iMPlayer feel like a TV app, with folders by country and a guide. VLC is a plain media player: fast, free and trustworthy, but with one long list and no guide. • Safe downloads: get VLC only from the official VideoLAN site, and Smarters only from its developer site. Copies on download portals often carry adware.

Watching home channels on a laptop while you travel

Where the country folders and favorites sit on Windows PC and Mac

Software updates sometimes rename these menus. Treat the paths as directions, and if your screen shows a slightly different word, pick the nearest match and carry on.

Channels pausing in the evening? Five checks that usually fix it

• Connection: use an Ethernet cable, or move closer to the router on 5 GHz Wi-Fi; 2.4 GHz through several walls is the usual weak spot.
• Home traffic: hold off console updates, large downloads and cloud backups while you watch.
• Player: where the app has a buffer setting, raise it one step, and leave hardware decoding on unless a single channel acts up.
• Picture: switch on frame-rate matching if the device has it, so camera pans look smooth.
• Channel: if one copy of a channel stalls, open another copy in the same folder and tell us which one failed.

Common Windows PC and Mac errors and how to fix them

Channels in VLC that do nothing

A long M3U list takes VLC a while to parse; clicks during that time often open an empty window. Wait for it, then retry. If a lone channel fails while the rest play, report it to us, because the issue sits with that stream, not your account.

Windows warns about the installer

Microsoft Defender SmartScreen flags installers it rarely sees. If the file came straight from the Smarters developer site, choose More info, then Run anyway. Delete anything that came from a pop-up or a download portal.

Mac refuses to launch Smarters

Gatekeeper stops software it does not recognize. When the installer came from the official Smarters site, go to System Settings, scroll to Privacy and Security and press Open Anyway beside the app. One approval is enough.

Choppy video and a noisy fan

Software decoding is overloading the processor. Switch hardware decoding on, connect the charger and close extra tabs, then add one step of VLC network cache. Still struggling? Pick the HD version of the channel if the folder lists more than one.

Sound drifts out of sync

In VLC, press J or K to nudge the audio until voices match the picture. In Smarters or iMPlayer, stopping and restarting the channel usually resets the timing. If drift keeps coming back on one channel, tell our team which one.

iMPlayer will not install on the Mac

iMPlayer needs a Mac with an M1 chip or later on macOS 26 or newer. Check under Apple menu, About This Mac. On an Intel Mac or an older macOS, use Smarters for desktop or VLC with the same login.

UK channels look slightly jerky

A 60 Hz monitor showing a 50 fps broadcast produces a small, regular stutter. Monitors that offer 50 Hz can be switched in Advanced display settings for the evening. If yours cannot, the effect is cosmetic and does no harm.
