IPTV 4K is television sent over the internet at 3840 by 2160 pixels, which is four times the pixel count of 1080p Full HD. MoviraTivi carries 4K, FHD and HD, and it serves a 4K copy whenever the broadcaster or studio produces one. To show it, your home needs an Ultra HD television, a streamer able to decode 4K video, and close to 25 Mbps of stable internet per 4K screen. There is no 4K surcharge on any plan. A stream can never be sharper than its source, though, so most channels still arrive in FHD or HD.
Below you will find the full checklist for 4K at home, the kinds of programs that usually come in 4K, the real difference between FHD and HD, how to pick the 4K copy in TiViMate, IPTV Smarters Pro and iMPlayer, and what to do when the picture stutters.
What a 4K IPTV Picture Needs at Home
Think of 4K as a chain with six links. Every link has to handle Ultra HD. If even one of them is limited to HD, the whole picture falls back to HD, however good the rest is.
| Part of your setup | Requirement for Ultra HD | Quick way to confirm |
| The channel or film | Produced in Ultra HD and delivered that way | The channel name or its group says 4K or UHD |
| Your TV | A 4K (UHD) screen, preferably with HDR | The model sticker, manual or box lists 4K or UHD |
| Streaming device | 4K output plus hardware HEVC (H.265) decoding | The manufacturer's spec sheet names 4K, HEVC and the HDR formats |
| HDMI port and cable | An HDMI 2.0 or later port and a high-speed cable | Use the input the TV marks for 4K or 4K at 60 Hz |
| Internet line | Around 25 Mbps for each 4K stream | Run the speed test on the TV or streaming device itself, not a phone |
| Your MoviraTivi plan | Nothing to add: 4K comes with every plan | Compare plan lengths and screen counts on the pricing page |
That 25 Mbps benchmark is taken from the FCC broadband speed guide; the agency pairs it with Ultra HD 4K streaming and 5 to 8 Mbps for HD. The guide assumes one activity at a time, so count 25 Mbps for every screen playing 4K, not once per household.
The HDMI link trips up more people than any other. A 4K stick plugged into an older port, or through an old soundbar, can quietly fall back to 1080p. If your TV has one port marked for 4K, use that one.
Which Channels and Sources Usually Come in 4K
A 4K copy only exists when someone produced one. Live television has been slow to switch, because it means new cameras, new outside-broadcast trucks and new transmission gear. Plenty of US networks remain at 720p or 1080i today. That keeps 4K on live TV limited to a short list of program types.
| Kind of content | Odds of a 4K copy | Typical result in your player |
| A few headline live broadcasts | Sometimes, when the broadcaster chooses to produce in 4K | A separate UHD feed alongside the usual HD channel |
| Regular weekly shows and routine live coverage | Rarely | FHD or HD, as the network makes them |
| Nature, travel and documentary channels | Fairly often on recent productions | Dedicated UHD channels or 4K copies of newer programs |
| Recent films and premium series on demand | Often | A 4K copy listed next to the FHD one |
| Older films and classic series | Seldom | FHD or HD, with the occasional restored 4K version |
| News, talk and daytime programs | Almost never | FHD or HD |
What a channel airs, and in what quality, is the broadcaster's decision. Both can change from season to season. MoviraTivi never promises a specific broadcast, game or film in 4K. To see how the lineup is organized, browse the MoviraTivi channel list, look at the US folders on the IPTV USA page, or read why quality is never a paid tier on our premium IPTV page.
4K, FHD and HD: Every Quality on Every Plan
Some streaming services hold their best picture back for a pricier plan. Netflix, for example, reserves Ultra HD for the Premium plan. Some IPTV sellers copy that model and charge for a "4K pack."
MoviraTivi does not tie quality to price. Whether you pay for one screen over a month or five screens over a year, the channels and qualities match. Plans change only in length and in how many screens can stream together. The only limits on 4K are the source and the equipment in your home.
Here is how the three qualities compare. FHD, or Full HD, is 1920 by 1080 pixels. HD usually means 1280 by 720. On a phone or a mid-size TV, a clean FHD stream is hard to tell apart from 4K. HD is the lightest option and the one to fall back on when the line is busy.
How to Pick the 4K Copy in TiViMate, Smarters and iMPlayer
Look for "4K" or "UHD" in a channel's title. Some lineups also gather those copies into one dedicated folder. The route to them varies by app. Menus change between versions, so treat these as pointers rather than exact button names.
- In TiViMate, use search from the main menu and type the channel name. A 4K copy often sits right beside the HD version. Long-press it to add it to favorites so it stays near the top.
- In IPTV Smarters Pro, open Live TV, scroll the category list for a 4K or UHD group, or use the search icon. For films, look for a 4K tag in the movie title.
- In iMPlayer, browse the groups or search the channel name, then favorite the 4K copy. Films finished in UHD may appear twice, once in each quality.
- Check what is playing. Many players show stream details in their info or playback menu. 2160 means 4K, 1080 means FHD, and 720 means HD.

HDR: The Upgrade You Often Notice First
HDR means high dynamic range. It lets a picture hold bright highlights and dark shadows in the same frame. A night scene keeps detail in the corners instead of turning to grey mush. Bright skies stay blue instead of washing out. For plenty of viewers, that richer contrast is more striking than the added resolution.
You will meet three main formats. HDR10 is the shared baseline found on nearly all Ultra HD sets. Dolby Vision layers dynamic, per-scene adjustments over it. HLG, or hybrid log-gamma, was designed for live broadcast. If the program, the box and the TV do not share a format, the picture plays in standard dynamic range.
A well-encoded FHD stream still looks crisp on an average living-room TV and needs well under half the bandwidth of 4K. On a busy evening, FHD is often the sensible choice.
Bandwidth Math for 4K IPTV in a Busy House
Start with the FCC figures: about 25 Mbps for each 4K stream and up to 8 Mbps for each HD stream. Then total up every stream that runs at the same time under your roof.
| Streams running together | Spare speed you need | Screens required |
| One 4K channel on the main TV | About 25 Mbps | 1 screen |
| 4K on the TV plus HD on a tablet | About 33 Mbps | 2 screens |
| 4K on two TVs at the same time | About 50 Mbps | 2 screens |
| 4K on the TV and HD on two phones | About 41 Mbps | 3 screens |
Leave headroom on top for video calls, game downloads and anyone else online. To match screens to your household, check the MoviraTivi pricing page.
Streaming Devices for 4K and HDR IPTV
The weakest device in the chain sets your ceiling. An old Full HD stick on a new 4K TV still gives you Full HD. Before buying, confirm three specs: Ultra HD over HDMI, HEVC decoded in hardware, and HDR10 at minimum.
| Box or TV | Software platform | How you get a player on it |
| A smart TV made in the last few years | Samsung Tizen, LG webOS or Google TV | Samsung and LG use their own app stores; Google TV sets accept Android players |
| Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Plus or 4K Max | Amazon's Fire OS (Android based) | Amazon Appstore first; if the app is missing there, the Downloader tool can sideload it |
| onn 4K Pro or Google TV Streamer | Google TV (Android underneath) | Straight from the Google Play Store |
| Apple TV 4K (recent generations) | tvOS | Download a player from the App Store on the device |
| MAG or Formuler set-top box | The box maker's own firmware | Use the built-in portal or the maker's own player app |
One warning: Amazon's Fire TV Stick 4K Select runs Vega OS instead of Fire OS. Android player apps do not install on it, which makes it a poor fit for IPTV. Every other device in the table can show MoviraTivi in 4K when the source is 4K.

TV and HDMI Settings to Check Before Blaming the Stream
Many 4K TVs ship with their HDMI inputs set to a basic mode. Work through this list before you assume the stream is at fault.
- Use the right HDMI input. The port should be HDMI 2.0 or later, and the cable should carry a Premium High Speed label or higher.
- Turn on full HDMI bandwidth. Each brand hides this under its own label. Samsung calls it Input Signal Plus. LG lists it as HDMI Ultra HD Deep Colour. Other makers often use a phrase like "enhanced format." Enable it only on the port the streaming box is plugged into.
- Switch on hardware decoding in the player's settings so the device's video chip does the work.
- Match the frame rate if your device or player offers it. When the TV refresh follows the program's 50 or 60 fps, motion in live shows appears cleaner.
- Tone down motion smoothing on films. The soap-opera look fades, and a Filmmaker or Cinema preset usually gives truer colors.
Will You See the 4K Difference on Your Screen?
Two factors decide whether 4K looks sharper to your eyes: screen size and seating distance.
| Your screen | Can you spot 4K? | Our advice |
| A 55-inch TV or bigger | Yes, clearly, on genuine 4K sources | Open 4K copies when your line has room to spare |
| TV of 40 to 50 inches | A little; HDR makes the bigger change | Compare the 4K and FHD copies and keep your favorite |
| Phone, tablet or laptop | Very little | FHD or HD is plenty |
Quality is set screen by screen. On a multi-screen MoviraTivi plan, the big TV might run a 4K copy while a tablet in the kitchen sticks to HD. Splitting it that way spares your connection on busy nights.
Troubleshooting a 4K IPTV Stream
- Plug in a cable. Ethernet beats wireless for consistency. No way to run a cable? Connect on 5 GHz, and shorten the distance between router and box.
- Increase the buffer if your player has the option. A slightly bigger buffer lets a live 4K stream ride out small dips.
- Pause heavy downloads. Game updates, cloud backups and other video all share the same line.
- Watch for a pattern. Do streams drag at the same time every evening while web pages open fine? Your internet company could be shaping traffic, and our VPN and IPTV explainer sorts the useful fixes from the myths.
- Drop down a step. Switch to the FHD or HD copy for tonight and try 4K again on a quieter evening.

4K IPTV Questions and Straight Answers
Is 4K an extra charge on MoviraTivi?
No. 4K is part of every MoviraTivi plan, whether you take one screen for a month or five screens for a year. Nothing needs unlocking. When a channel or film exists in 4K, the 4K copy appears in your player next to the FHD or HD one. You pick whichever suits your TV and your internet line.
What download speed does 4K IPTV require?
Budget roughly 25 Mbps per 4K stream, which is the figure the FCC broadband guide gives for Ultra HD video. If two TVs play 4K together, keep around 50 Mbps free. Steadiness counts more than the peak speed on your bill, so a wired Ethernet link to the streaming device often beats paying for a bigger package.
Which channels are actually broadcast in 4K?
Fewer than most people expect. Broadcasters mostly keep 4K for some big live broadcasts, often on a separate UHD feed, plus a few nature and documentary channels. News, talk and most weekly shows are still made in HD. MoviraTivi passes 4K along whenever the broadcaster sends it, and lineups shift as broadcasters change what they offer.
Why does a channel only show up in HD?
Because HD is all the broadcaster produces for it. Many US networks still air in 720p or 1080i, so no 4K version exists anywhere. No IPTV service can create detail the cameras never recorded. MoviraTivi delivers each channel at the best quality its source offers, 4K where available and FHD or HD for the rest.
Can I use MoviraTivi without a 4K TV?
Yes. MoviraTivi works on HD TVs, phones, tablets and computers, and you simply open the FHD or HD copy of each channel. True Ultra HD needs a 4K set, a streamer with 4K decoding and a steady 25 Mbps or so for that one screen.
Can two TVs watch 4K at once?
Yes, if your MoviraTivi plan has two or more screens and your line can carry both streams. Allow about 25 Mbps per 4K stream. When bandwidth is short, leave the main TV on 4K and set the second one to FHD or HD. It uses a fraction of the data and still looks clean on a smaller set.
Does 4K make a difference below 50 inches?
Often not. From a normal sofa distance, the extra sharpness of 4K is hard to see on sets below about 50 inches. HDR can still improve color and contrast, so compare the two copies yourself. On a smaller screen, FHD usually looks nearly identical and keeps bandwidth free for the rest of the household.
Why would 4K stall while the HD copy runs smoothly?
A 4K stream moves roughly three to five times as much data as HD, so weak Wi-Fi or a busy line shows up there first. Run an Ethernet cable to the device, hold off on big downloads, and enable hardware decoding. Still choppy? Switch to the FHD copy for now and give 4K another go later in the week.
